Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Dip

Do you have any big plans for Oscar Sunday (we mean, besides waiting eagerly for your LUB delivery to arrive!)?

Have you seen any of the movies that have been nominated? This year we've done a pretty good job of keeping up with our movie watching- so far we've been able to catch Arrival, Hacksaw Ridge, Hidden Figures, La La Land, Lion, and Manchester by the Sea, all of which have been nominated for Best Picture. Not too shabby!

Whether or not you plan on watching the Oscars with a big group of friends or just plan on having a relaxing Sunday evening we have got the perfect snack recipe to share with you.

We don't know about you, but we are big fans of cookie dough. It's a childhood favourite that has never really left us as we got older. Unfortunately, as we got older, we realized that eating raw cookie dough was probably not the best option for us nutritionally, but we've never stopped looking for ways to sneak it in.

Hence, this dip! Easy to whip together, using everyday ingredients (and no raw eggs!), and guaranteed to put a smile on adults and children alike, this dip is a party essential. It can easily be adapted for personal preference too- add more chocolate chips and leave out the M&M's, use mini Reese's Pieces instead, use white chocolate chips, use butterscotch chips, etc. The possibilities are almost endless! Plus, no baking required!

We know you're going to love this dip whether you plan on watching the Oscars or not. Go make it!

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Dip

Ingredients:

1/2 cup salted butter, cut into small pieces

1/3 cup light brown sugar

Pinch of salt

1 tsp vanilla extract

250 g cream cheese, at room temperature

1/2 cup icing sugar

1/2 cup mini semisweet chocolate chips

1/3 cup mini M&M's

Graham crakcers, Oreo Thins , Nilla Wafers, etc. for dipping

Directions:

1. In a small pot, melt the butter, brown sugar, and salt over medium-low heat, stirring frequently until the brown sugar dissolves. Remove from the heat, whisk in the vanilla, and set aside to cool to room temperature (about 1-1.5 hours).

2. With an electric mixer on medium speed, beat together the cream cheese and icing sugar for 1 minute, until smooth and fluffy.

3. Reduce the mixer speed to low and slowly beat in the cooled butter and sugar mixture.Increase the speed to medium and beat for  1 minute. Stir in the chocolate chips and M&M's.

4. Transfer the dip to a serving bowl and refrigerate if not serving immediately. Remove from the refrigerator 15-30 minutes before serving. Serve with graham crackers, Oreo Thins, or Nilla wafers, or whatever you feel like dipping!
